Gen Tomuro

Who doesn’t love film music? During OdeGand the leading Japanese pianist Gen Tomuro pays tribute to his recently deceased compatriot Ryuichi Sakamoto. Sakamoto, actor, composer and producer, died of cancer at the end of March this year, but left behind a great legacy. Some of his soundtracks resonate with great authority in the canon of film history, such as 'Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence', 'The Sheltering Sky' or ‘The Last Emperor’. But Sakamoto not only operated in the film world; in the 70s he was one of the leading voices of the electronic scene. During this concert, Gen Tomuro examines the music of this amiable musical personality with atmospheric sounds, stillness and exaltation.
