City of EAR

Unique choral creation with Joris Blanckaert & 30 Flemish choirs in a resonant finale to the OdeGand-weekend

SUN 15 SEPT 2019 (free of charge)
2:00 pm or 4:00 pm

On Sunday 15 September the festivities will continue with City of EAR. Hundreds of voices will wash over Ghent in a resonant finale to OdeGand. Flanders Festival Ghent is putting together the brand new project City of EAR together with the composer Joris Blanckaert.

With a soundscape for the city, City of EAR calls attention to the human voice in one of the most noisy eras ever. In total 30 choirs will be positioned within the triangle created by the City Pavilion, the Bisdomplein and the Kalandeberg. Walking between the choirs, you will have a unique experience of the constantly changing music interacting with the sounds of the city. Choose a starting point and the hundreds of voices will ultimately carry you to the Sint-Baafsplein, where they will merge in a swirling sea of song. Come and enjoy ‘The Voice’ prevailing in Ghent!
