The Zeeuws Orkest, a unique institution dating back to 1888 (!), consists of around sixty-five professional musicians, while also providing space for some ten highly talented amateur players. At OdeGand, under the baton of chief conductor Ivan Meylemans, they perform the delightful Symphony No. 8 by Antonín Dvořák. It is his most cheerful and optimistic symphony, infused with those beautiful, lyrical, Slavic melodies in which he was unsurpassed.
